Sports and Recreation

Hope for Community Development is dedicated to enhancing community engagement and development through comprehensive sports and recreational programs. By organizing sports events and activities, the organization brings families and community members together, fostering a sense of belonging and teamwork. These programs not only promote physical health and well-being but also teach valuable life skills such as discipline, leadership, and cooperation. Through sports and recreation, youth can build connections, make healthy decisions, and strengthen their community bonds.

All programs are free for all participants.

Youth Soccer Program

The Youth Soccer Program employs older newcomers and marginalized youth (18-35) as coaches and mentors, while younger members (8-18) play soccer outdoors in summer and indoors in winter. Soccer keeps youths active and engaged in positive social activities.

The program develops soccer skills in a non-competitive environment using scrimmages, skill-based training, and team-building activities to promote self-esteem and social interaction. Knowledge is shared on and off the field. We offer weekly soccer training and Wellness Workshops to teach mindfulness for performance and the theory of great athletes.

Due to high demand, we seek support and financial contributions for equipment like soccer balls, goalposts, t-shirts, snacks, and training gear.

Youth Art Program

Hope for Community Development’s Youth Art Program encourages youth between the ages of 5 and 29 to delve into art through creative self-reflection using diverse mediums like photography, pottery, and painting.

The program is designed to empower participants to utilize the creative process to produce a variety of two and three-dimensional artworks, applying the elements, principles, and techniques of visual arts to convey feelings, ideas, and perspectives. Sessions take place weekly for 90 minutes at local parks and programming spaces, allowing participants to explore the day's topic, engage in skill-building activities, and showcase their creations to peers.
